Do not mistake your toilet as a kitchen sink garbage disposal. Things to think about: If a toiletry product says “disposable or flushable” doesn’t mean it should be flushed down the toilet. Keep a wastepaper basket next to the toilet for such things as facial tissues, gum, every sanitary product on the market, bandages and paper towels. Disposable diapers don’t go in a toilet unless you first remove the plastic liner and tear the paper diaper into smaller pieces..And still it shouldn’t go into the toilet after all that hard work. Case and Point: Flushing a single facial tissue down a toilet is unlikely to cause a problem, but it helps to develop a bad habit that creates the impression that a toilet can digest everything. Plus, flushing a toilet to dispose of a facial tissue is a stupendous waste of water…High Cost for water bill. Likewise remember that dangerous chemicals may not harm your toilets, simply they shouldn’t be flushed away either.
Taking these extra precautions could save you thousands on drain clogs, water leaks from the seals that protect you from obnoxious gasses, and toilet replacement.
